Support the Slovak YMCA

For many years we are now connected with the Slovak YMCAs which had their very beginning already in 1920 but had to start again from the scratch after 40 years of prohibition in the time of communism.

Today the Slovak YMCA runs about 30 different programmes and has more than 1000 members in 23 local branches. In that programmes social engagement plays always a big role and in the past few years new young leaders with creative ideas and huge visions allowed for a more democratic and more effective structure to the YMCA.

However one thing missing is the combination of the motivating YMCA-spirit and the experience.
That is why we invited many Slovak YMCA-leaders  to different YMCA-events, seminars and workshops in Germany. We recognized the urgent need of enabling this new leaders and volunteers to see the content and meaning of the YMCA-work, to deepen the spiritual fundament, to plan and to run international
projects or to organize different ways of fundraising for their work.

Additionally we organize trips to Slovakia for German YMCA-members since years to strengthen the relationship and collaboration with the local YMCAs there.

Due to the collaboration with Julia Kruskova who was trained in the ´Wörnsberger Anker´ and before on the bible school in Bad Liebenzell we could support the missionary work with children and teenagers in the local YMCA in Nesvady concretely for the past few years.

With Anetka Pinkeova who at the moment commits to an EVS (European Volunteer Service) in the ejw Öhringen a talented and dynamic young woman will step into the shoes of Julia Kruskova who stopped working in her position because of family commitments.

The Slovak YMCA needs our help more than ever and there are many ways how we can help to develop its work. For example with supporting the appointment of Anetka Pinkeova who will work partly in the National YMCA and partly in the YMCA Nesvady after finishing her EVS.
However our financial resources are limited and so we ask kindly for  additional support for this project.

What can I do?

Help with financial support of Anetka Pinkeova´s appointment

Commit to a Volunteer Service in Slovakia YMCA focused on organizing programmes
(language courses, Ten Sing, handicrafts, open youth work...)

Organizing camps together with Slovak YMCAs
