Multifunctional Training Centre of the YMCA Russland
("The Dew"-Project)
The merciless reign of the Soviets forced the YMCA to vanish into thin air for about 70 years. But after the breakdown of the Soviet Union with external support the chance of a new start was taken..jpg)
Today the YMCA in Russia has about 2.5000 members in more than 15 local associations, which reach about 21 000 participants with 820 volunteers.
With the growing of the young YMCA movement the need of a own multifunctional centre for seminars, meetings and camps becomes apparent.
Consequently in 2010 the Russian YMCA did the first step of a long way and bought a piece of land with a shell construction. Now the building has to get completed and furnished.
An important role in the new multifunctional centre the work with Christian values and message will play. Hearts and minds of young people are open for this old truths, which should give distinction to the YMCA life and work.
Out of this the idea of the ´Dew´-project was born. "The Dew" will "serve as an intellectual resource and methodological center and will concentrate on provision of seminars and trainings for leaders on Christian education, Training the trainers courses to form team of trainers on Christian enlightenment, practical legal assistance on questions of faith for local and national YMCAs, preparing of Christian printed and video materials for leaders and organizations, translation, publication and distribution of methodical materials and books on Christian education, hosting of pilgrims from all over Russia and abroad."
