Telavi YMCA
After the war in Georgia in 2008 which forced about 16 000 people to leave their homes many of these families are still living in poor conditions in emergency accommodations.
They have no prospects of returning to their homes and the bad economic situation of the country hits them hard.
Telavi YMCA looks after refugee children, whose families still have not found a real home.
Aside from non-formal education programmes the YMCA wants to give a piece of home to these children, where they can feel save and accepted and where they can assimilate their experience of escaping.
The education programmes and varied courses enlarge the opportunities for the children to develop their personality and improve their chances to have a good start into working life.
On the initiative of FIB e.V. a house for the YMCA was bought and renovated in huge parts.
There programmes are running and the house is filled with a buzz of activity.
Furthermore there are plans to renovate the rest of the house and offer a greater variety of programmes.
