Children´s Home in Kodjori
The children´s home Kodjori is located close to Tbilisi in the mountains of the Caucasus in Georgia.
60 children in the age between 6 and 18 years are living there. They are orphans or come from a very difficult social background.
All the running cost like food, clothing, heating and the salary of the staff have to be covered by the small amount of 1.70 € the government pays per day and child.
Furthermore many other things the pedagogical work with the children falls by the wayside.
Together with our Georgian partnerorganisation `Life Chance` we help to improve the living conditions in the children´s home and impart important experiences and knowledge to the children.
Since four years our team of Georgian artists, craftspeople and social workers is working with the children at Kodjori orphanage. The activities include preprofessional training and an intensive pedagogical and art-therapeutic attendance.
Running activities are:
• Plasticising with wood and stone
• Music therapy with singing and instruments
• Painting therapy
• Speech therapy and theatre
• Making pottery; shaping, baking and painting
The activities help the children to fight psychomotorical issues and enhance intellectual expression. This is an essential precondition for a proper development of mental and spiritual attributes.
In the future the activities are planned to be extended to other children’s homes and pedagogues, in order to give more children the opportunity of developing their personality and creativity.
